The Government of India has increased HSD price by Rs.12 per ltr. from 18-01-2013 for the bulk users. Due to this BMTC is procuring diesel from retail outlets resulting in extra burden on coprporation. As per the GOI decision, the diesel prices will keep on increasing at about Rs.0.60/litre per month. For a six months period, there will be an increase of Rs.3.60/litre resulting into financial implication of Rs.49.68 Crore annually.
As per the settlement of salary with employees, the DA have been merged with Basic w.e.f.01.01.2013. This merger along with HRA increase for Bangalore has brought a financial implication of Rs.90.96 Crore/annum.
In addition to this there will be an increase of DA of 4.5% w.e.f.01.01.2013 and a further DA increase of 4.5% w.e.f.01.07.2013. These two DA increase will bring a financial implication of Rs.38.98 Crore annually.
For the reasons mentioned above, there will be a total additional financial burden of Rs.268.29 Crore over the next one year.
With a view to recoup the some portion of the financial burden BMTC has decided to pass on the part of this huge additional expenditure by way of marginal increase in the Passenger daily bus pass rates w.e.f. 11-05-2013 and Monthly Bus pass fares hike from June 2013.
